Network planner
Open the Network planner (under Planners) for a deeper look than the coverage heatmap. It has two tabs.
Shows every mesh device as a graph and answers the questions an installer actually has:
- Can every device reach a controller, and in how many hops? (Z-Wave routes through at most four repeaters — devices deeper than that won’t join reliably.)
- Which links are weak, and which devices can’t relay (battery devices are leaves).
- Suggested repeaters — roughly where a mains-powered device would reconnect stranded nodes. Toggle Include other floors to analyse the whole home.
Spectrum
Section titled “Spectrum”Coverage tells you signal strength; Spectrum tells you whether the channel has room left:
- Channel planning — Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz vs Zigbee/Thread. It flags real overlaps (e.g. Zigbee channel 11 sitting under Wi-Fi channel 1) and suggests a clear channel (15, 20, 25, 26).
- Airtime — an estimate of how busy the band is, weighted by device type (a camera uses far more air than a door sensor).
- Capacity — hard limits like the Z-Wave 232-node cap and Thread router limits.
