Import & scale a plan

You can draw from scratch, but most people start from an existing plan.

Import an image

Open Floor → Import floor plan image and choose a PNG or JPG (an architect’s plan, a sketch, anything to trace over). It drops onto the canvas as a dimmed underlay.

Set the scale

So coverage, room areas, and cable lengths are accurate, tell NexusPlan how big the plan really is:

  1. Choose the Set scale tool.
  2. Click two points a known distance apart (a wall you know the length of, or the scale bar on the drawing).
  3. Type the real-world distance, in metres or in feet and inches, whichever units you use (for example 4.5 or 14' 9").

Every distance on the plan is now to scale. Lengths and areas are shown in your chosen units, which you can change under Account → Settings → Units.

Set scale / Recalibrate scale — trace a known length so measurements are real.

Adjust the underlay

If the image needs nudging, use Adjust floor plan position & size to drag and rescale it under your walls without moving anything you’ve drawn.
